The Roads of Avalon are a maze of full-loot zones linked by temporary portals. Each portal has a player limit and a timer, so tonight's network is gone tomorrow. Small groups use the Roads for chests, high-tier resources, tracking and fights, and as a shortcut across the map. The portal limits are the point: a forty-player zerg cannot follow a seven-player group through a seven-player portal.
How the network works
Avalonian portals open in the open world and lead into a Road. Inside, more portals link Roads to each other and back out.
- Each portal shows its player capacity and time left.
- The zone you enter from sets the tier. Since Paths to Glory, blue and yellow zones mostly lead to T4 Roads, red and black zones to T6 Roads, and T8 Roads exist only in the Deep Roads and behind 20-player portals.
- Group portals inside the Roads recharge for 300 seconds after use. A portal your group just took may not be usable by the group chasing you for five minutes.
- Zerg markers appear on the minimap at 8 players in the Roads, against 11 in the open world. A big red circle near your route means a group larger than yours.
What is inside
- Avalonian Chests, guarded by Avalonian mobs. Chests grow in size over time if nobody opens them. Small chests are never rare or legendary; large chests are never common. The first group to open a chest gets its fame, so the bosses guarding it give less than they used to.
