Albion has no character level. You get stronger by earning fame in what you do, and the Destiny Board records it. Every weapon, armor, gathering line and craft has nodes that unlock tiers and add Item Power or efficiency. The board is huge, but you only need three ideas: nodes, Learning Points and Fame Credits.
What changed recently
- Abyssal Depths update (June 2025): Quick Learn replaced Auto-Learn and the old 20% threshold for spending Learning Points went away.
- Radiant Wilds update (April 2026): nodes you cannot progress yet are hidden by default, and the area past your progress is dimmed. Use Show all Nodes to plan ahead. Links to locked nodes show your partial progress. The Reaver line was removed; its avatars moved to Albion Journal missions and Expeditions no longer need Reaver levels.
- Dragonfire update (August 2026): specialization nodes with the same parent were merged into one node. Each individual spec now shows as a badge around it. Open the node to see the list, toggle Quick Learn or tracking for one spec or all of them, and find recommended builds in the new Details tab of the Respec window. Nothing changed in how specs work.
Nodes
- Unlock nodes open the next tier of an item, tool or recipe. The first level of a gathering node, for example, unlocks that tier's tool and gathering gear.
- Mastery nodes cover a family, such as Sword Fighter or Leather Armor Crafter, and add a bonus to everything in it.
- Specialization nodes cover one item, such as Broadsword, and add a large bonus to that item and a smaller one to its family.
Fame goes to the node for what you use. Fighting with a Broadsword fills Broadsword and the sword mastery; gathering T6 ore fills the T6 ore node. In crafting and refining, specialization lowers your focus cost and, for gear, raises the chance of better quality.
Crafting bonuses also move with patches. Dragonfire added Dragonslayer Armor to the leather family and cut the focus cost efficiency of every leather armor spec level from 15 to 12.5 to keep armor types even. It also reweighted potion specs: Healing, Energy, Gigantify, Resistance, Sticky, Poison, Invisibility and Bootlegger groups went from 18 to 22.5 focus efficiency per level, while Calming, Cleansing, Acid, Berserk, Hellfire, Gathering, Tornado and Lifeward fell to 11.25. If you planned an alchemy spec, plan it again.
Where Learning Points come from
| Source | Amount |
|---|---|
| Premium | 30 a day, 1 point every 48 minutes, online or not |
| First Premium of 7 days or more | 500, once per character |
| Adventurer's Challenge daily reward | 10, Premium not required |
| Tomes of Learning from Journal missions | Varies by tier |
| Albion Store packs | 1,400, 4,000 or 10,000 |
There is no cap on how many you can hold, so saving them costs nothing.
How Quick Learn spends them
Switch Quick Learn on for a node and the fame you earn there is multiplied by five, with Learning Points spent as that boosted fame comes in. The global Quick Learn switch at the top of the board must be on as well. Nodes unlocked through Quick Learn get Quick Learn turned on by default, so check your list after a big session.
The total LP cost of a node did not change in the rework. What changed is the timing: LP now turn into progress only while you earn fame on that node. Put them on lines you already play every day.
Learning Points cannot be used on cooking, alchemy or farming nodes.
Where to spend them
- Gathering first. Gathering unlocks are slow and the yield pays back. A common habit is to Quick Learn the first level of each new tier so you get the better tool and gear early.
- Refining spec. More spec means less focus per refine, which is silver every day you have Premium.
- Low-level crafting specs that unlock the higher-value items you want to craft.
- Combat last. Combat fame comes easily from dungeons, the Depths and the open world, so LP do less there.
Avoid spreading points across lines you might try later. Keep your levels in Outpost's Specialization & focus tool so the crafting and refining calculators use your real focus costs.
Fame Credits and re-spec
Once a combat node is maxed, extra fame on it would be wasted. Fame Credits catch it: with re-spec enabled, fame from maxed nodes turns into credits for a silver fee. Credits are bound to your character and cannot be traded. You spend them on combat nodes you have already unlocked, which lets you level a second weapon fast once your main is done. Rates and silver costs change with patches, so read the numbers on the board before you commit a large sum.
Speeding up fame
- Premium adds fame on top of everything else.
Drake Egg Biscuits (Dragonfire) raise combat and gathering fame for 25 hours and stack with combat food.- Tomes of Insight hold fame you can apply to a node. Since Realm Divided you can combine them into higher tiers at the Artifact Foundry, which cannot be undone.
- Hideout buffs: a guild hideout gives +2.5% PvE and gathering fame at power level 1, rising to +10% at level 9.
- Ancient Altars in the Ancient Lands give a 10% fame bonus for an hour for a small Ancient Bones sacrifice, or 20% for two hours for a large one. See the Ancient Lands guide.
