A good build answers one question: what content is this for? A solo dungeon set, a ZvZ healer and a gathering escape kit share almost nothing. Start from the activity and the rest follows.
Start from the content
Before you pick a weapon, write down:
- The activity. Solo dungeons, Mists, Hellgates, Corrupted Dungeons, ganking, ZvZ, gathering.
- The role. Tank, healer, melee DPS, ranged DPS or support.
- The threat. What kills you there: big mob packs, a single boss, players, or a gank group on the road.
- The budget. What you can lose and rebuy without changing how you play.
Then look at what other players run. Builds by activity groups loadouts by content, and the build library lets you search by weapon.
Make the build
Open Create a build and fill each slot: weapon, off-hand, head, armor, shoes, cape, bag, food, potion and mount. Pick the abilities you use on each item, and add swaps for slots you change between fights.
Write a short description of when to use the build and how to play it. A line about the rotation or the escape saves the next reader a lot of guessing.
IP and ability notes are yours
You can type IP targets and ability notes into a build. Outpost stores them as your notes. They are not verified combat stats, and Outpost does not calculate them from the items. Treat them as advice from the author and check the numbers in game.
Private, unlisted or public
Every build has one of three visibility settings:
- Private: only you can see it. Use this while you plan.
- Unlisted: anyone with the link can open it, but it does not show up in search or the library.
- Public: listed for everyone.
You can change the setting at any time from the editor.
