Every craft and refine gives back part of the materials you put in. That share is the resource return rate, or RRR, and spending focus raises it a lot. The numbers below show where to craft, when to spend focus and how to read the profit.
What RRR is
Each time you craft or refine, the station gives back a share of the returnable materials. At 15.25% RRR, about 15 of every 100 hides you refine come back to you. Over many crafts those returns make up a large part of your margin.
Not everything returns. Artifacts, tokens and enchanting materials such as runes, souls and relics never come back. Outpost's calculators skip them automatically.
Where the rate comes from
The game adds up a production bonus and turns it into a return rate:
return rate = bonus / (100 + bonus)
In a royal city the parts are:
- 18 base bonus at any royal city station.
- +40 when you refine the city's specialty resource, or +15 when you craft one of its specialty items.
- +10 or +20 on days when the city has a production bonus for that category.
- +59 when you craft with focus.
The rates in a royal city
| Where | Bonus | Without focus | With focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Any royal city, no specialty | 18 | 15.25% | 43.50% |
| Crafting specialty city | 33 | 24.81% | 47.92% |
| Refining specialty city | 58 | 36.71% | 53.92% |
A daily bonus pushes these higher. Refining in the specialty city on a +10 day gives a bonus of 68 without focus, for 40.48%.
Return rates differ on islands, in hideouts and in other places outside the royal cities. Check the rate in game before you rely on these numbers there.
