Albion has no character level. You get stronger by earning fame in what you do, and the Destiny Board records it: every weapon, armor, gathering line and craft has nodes that unlock tiers and add Item Power or efficiency. The board is huge, which is why new players feel lost in it. You only need to understand three things: nodes, Learning Points and Fame Credits.
Nodes
- Unlock nodes open the next tier of an item or tool. You fill them with fame from using the previous tier.
- Mastery nodes cover a whole family, such as Sword Fighter or Leather Armor Crafter, and add a bonus to everything in it.
- Specialization nodes cover one item, such as Broadsword or a single refined material, and add a large bonus to that item and a smaller one to its neighbours.
Fame goes to the node for the item you are using. Fighting with a Broadsword fills Broadsword and Sword Fighter; gathering T6 ore fills the T6 ore node.
The Radiant Wilds update made the board easier to read. Nodes you cannot progress yet are hidden by default and areas past your progress are dimmed. Use Show all Nodes to plan ahead, and look at the partial progress shown on connections to locked nodes.
Learning Points
Learning Points (LP) shortcut the fame a node needs. You get them from Premium (30 a day, granted once a day after maintenance, plus a one-time bonus with your first Premium) and from the shop.
Since mid-2025 you spend them through Quick Learn. Switch Quick Learn on for a node and the fame you earn there is multiplied by five, with LP spent as that boosted fame comes in. The total LP cost of a node did not change. What changed is how you spend them: Quick Learn turns LP into progress only while you earn fame on that node.
That makes LP a speed-up for what you already do, so spend them on:
- the gathering line you level every day,
- the weapon line you main,
- crafting or refining specs that cut your focus costs.
Avoid spreading them across lines you might try later. Points sitting unspent cost nothing, and they keep.
Fame Credits and re-spec
Once a combat node is maxed, extra fame earned on it would be wasted. catch it: with re-spec enabled on the board, fame from maxed nodes turns into credits, for a silver cost. Credits are bound to your character and cannot be traded.
